
Compensation for injured harbourmaster
A FORMER Beccles harbour master has won £6,000 compensation from Waveney District Council for an injury he received while working at Southwold.
His union UNISON took up the
case for Mike Leggett, who was harbour master at Beccles Quay
for many years, and won an out-of-court settlement for him after he received a serious injury to his back through slipping on dangerous stairs that staff had complained about for years.

Coffee mornings, non-uniform days, music sessions and a variety of other activities helped to bring in the funds for the BBC

Worlingham modeller strikes gold

A HIGH flying modeller from Worlingham struck gold at an international competition last weekend with his model of a German aircraft.
Ramon Wilson, who lives in Broadland Close and has been chairman of the Oulton Broad Scale Model Group since 2006, won a gold medal in the 1/48th scale aircraft (detailed) category at the annual Scale Modelworld competition at the International Conference Centre in Telford..

BUNGAY is getting set for the town's third annual street market of the year - the Christmas Market on Sunday, December 7.
As usual, Earsham Street, in the centre of town, will be closed between 7am and 6pm with the market opening at 9am..

A HEATED Bungay town Council meeting on Monday failed to agree on how much money the council would need to run it sbudget for the coming year.
Despite a claim that the town's current precept of £27,100 fell far below the figures of other similar towns in the area members were divided on a proposal to increase it to £28,150 for next year - it has always worked hard to keep its local council tax demand low..
